Donut Seeds

We do April Fools Day big in our classroom.  From turning their juice into jello to offering them "brown E's" at snack.  Some tricks are more appreciated than others.  Brown paper E's in lieu of real brownies?  Not so much.  But they did love google eyes on the inanimate objects and our pictures!

My kids have my eyes, don't you think?

One of our students brought us a packet of Donut Seeds for April Fools Day.

We thought, why not plant them and see what happens?
Sure enough, a week later, baby donuts sprouted.

We left them alone to see if they would grow more?  They were too small to pick and didn't even have their sprinkles yet. Guess what happened over the weekend?!

Since they looked ripe and finally had their sprinkles, we decided to pick them.  We brought them back to our classroom cut and divided them up, and ate them!

Nothing tastes better than a home grown donut!!!
